All the things you want to know

Got questions? We’ve got you.
From parking tips to payment options, new client info, and everything in between, here’s all the stuff people usually ask (and some things they didn’t know they needed to).

our vibe

Q: Is the salon noisy?

A: We are a calm space with the option to read our books or do some craft whilst you enjoy your appointment with us. You can also let us know if you prefer not to chat during your appointment. We’re here to make you feel safe and comfortable.

Q: Can I bring a support person?

A: Absolutely. Just let us know in advance so we can make sure there’s space for them to hang out.

Q: Can I bring my pet?

A: Yes, provided they’re chill and it’s cleared with us first. Email us to check before your appointment.

Q: Can I work from the salon?
A: Yes! We’ve got free Wi-Fi and plenty of space. Work from the chair, our purple table or the comfy couch, your call.

Q: Can I bring food or order in?
A: Go for it. Bring snacks, get delivery, or help yourself to our stash of chips and drinks – see the Noms Menu below!

who we are

Q: Are you sustainable?
A: Yep—we’re proud members of Sustainable Salons Australia. That means we recycle hair, colour waste, product packaging, and tools, and use non-toxic, low-impact products across the board. We even have eco-friendly taps and foils. Check out our video on the impact we’ve made so far.

Q: How experienced is the team?
A: Everyone’s highly trained and always learning. We offer tiered pricing based on experience level, check out our stylist bios to see who’s the best fit for you.

Q: Do you have a loyalty program?
A: Yes! You’re automatically added after your first visit. Perks include 10% off during your birthday month and a free product when you refer a friend.

Q: Are you community focused?
A: Totally. We’re part of Strands for Trans, and we love supporting local small businesses and causes. Check out our in-salon trifold to find the locals we love on social media.

payments + Gifts

Q: Can I pay with cash?
A: Only if it’s exact, we don’t keep change on hand. You can split with card + cash, but we can’t do two cards.

Q: When I enter my card to book, is it charged straight away?
A: Nope! We only charge your card on the day of your appointment. The exception? New colour clients – we take a 50% deposit to secure your spot.

Q: Can I pay with a different card on the day?
A: Yep! Totally fine. You can use whatever card you like at checkout, we also offer AfterPay.

Q: Can I buy a gift card?
A: Yes! You can buy one online anytime, or if you want something extra special or personalised, flick us an email and we’ll sort it.

Q: Is there different pricing for short hair / men / kids?

A: We don’t believe hair has a gender! We price based on time and experience level.

New client stuff

Q : Do I need to book a consultation if I’m a new colour client?
A: Yep—100%. We want to get it right! If you can’t make it in, we can chat via FaceTime, Zoom, or phone. Easy.

Q: I’m a bit nervous or have had a tough salon experience in the past, what do you recommend?
A: We totally get it. We suggest booking with Jo, Eden or Ravenna, our most experienced stylists. They’re brilliant at making you feel safe, supported and heard.

Q: Should I come with clean or dirty hair?
A: Clean is best! We love starting with a fresh canvas. The only exception is for scalp bleach – unwashed hair gives your scalp some natural protection.

Services

Q: Do you offer Keratin treatments?

A: Yep! We’ve got two options. Best bet? Book a consult so we can check out your hair and recommend the right one for you. Just a heads-up, keratin is all about smoothing, not full-on straightening.

Q: Do you ever offer any complimentary services?
A: We love supporting our community. If you know someone who could use a hair service but isn’t in a position to pay right now, send us a nomination to [email protected]

Q: Do you need hair ‘models’?

A:  We regularly look for hair training guests (aka real people, not models!) to help our team practise and grow. These sessions come at a lower cost, and you still get looked after with care. Keep an eye on our socials for shout-outs!

Getting here

Q: Where can I park?

A: There are free 2-hour spots on Wilson Street + nearby, untimed parking near Australia Street, paid parking at IGA (King St), Newtown Central (330 King St), and Care Park (18 Lennox St). We’re also just a 2-min walk from Newtown Station + heaps of bus stops
